The University of Miami volleyball team has added assistant coach Ainise Havili to the staff, head coach Jose “Keno” Gandara announced Monday.
Originally from Fort Worth, Texas, Havili attended the University of Kansas from 2014-2018, and received her master’s degree from the University of Arizona in 2018. Ainise’s career at KU was nothing short of incredible, as she holds numerous records and accolades during her time as a player.
She was a three-time All-American, back-to-back Big 12 Setter of the Year, and the starting setter for both the Jayhawks’ 2015 Final Four team and 2016 Big 12 championship team. During her senior year, she shattered the record for most career assists by a player in Kansas volleyball history with 5255 recorded assists. She also ranks third all-time at KU in sets played (463), matches played (124) and service attempts (1789).
Upon graduating from Kansas in 2018, Ainise continued her athletic career in international play, taking her talents to Allianz MTV Stuttgart of Germany and Karayolları Spor Kulübü of Turkey.
In 2022, Ainise returned to the United States to continue her passion for volleyball, only this time as a coach. Spending a year as a volunteer assistant for Purdue University, Ainise now joins the Hurricanes staff for the upcoming 2023 season as a full-time assistant coach.
Miami’s coaching staff now includes Gandara, assistant coach/recruiting coordinator Jillian Hadder and Havili.
