Huskers Halted – Stanford University Athletics

LINCOLN, Neb. – In a gritty match, No. 9 Stanford went into Lincoln and defeated No. 2 Nebraska, 27-25, 25-22, 19-25, 27-25, Tuesday, in front of more than 8,000 fans at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.

The Cardinal (5-2) has won five in a row over the Cornhuskers (7-1) dating back to 2014, and is now 5-0 on the road this season.

Opposite Kendall Kipp led all players with 15 kills, seven digs, four blocks and an ace. Freshman outside hitter Elia Rubin added 13 kills, seven digs, two blocks and a pair of aces.

Stanford hit .211 while holding Nebraska to a .166 clip – its second lowest of the season. The teams battled all night long, registering 34 tie scores and nine lead changes.

 



Sophomore Kami Miner posted her second double-double of the season with 41 assists and 14 digs. The setter also notched three kills, two blocks and an ace. Junior libero Elena Oglivie had a match and season-high 21 digs  to go with six assists.

Redshirt junior Caitie Baird had 10 kills, eight digs, two blocks and an assist for the Cardinal. Middle blocker McKenna Vicini hit .667 with six kills on nine errorless swings, five blocks and three digs, while sophomore Sami Francis totaled eight kills, five blocks and three digs.
