Huskies Pick Up Two Conferences Wins

Pac-12 South

March 8 | Tempe, Arizona

TEMPE, ARIZ. —  The University of Washington Beach Volleyball team took down two conference foes on Friday, the first day of the Pac-12 South Tournament. The Huskies defeated Utah 5-0 and Arizona 4-1.

The Beach Dawgs picked up their third sweep of the season when they beat the Utah Utes on Friday morning, 5-0.  The Huskies have extended their winning streak against Utah to double digits, winning every dual ever against them.

Zoey Henson and Lauren Wilcock set the tone for the first dual, winning their match in two sets.

Following the No. 2 pair’s example, every other Husky pair took down their Ute opponents in two sets. The Huskies shook up the lineup in spots three and four, as Scarlett Dahl and Kendall Mather paired up for the first time this season and notched a win in the third spot after holding a late surge in the last set.

In their first match paired together, Brooke Balue and Josie Ulrich also won. Kierstyn Barton and Natalie Martin won their second straight match, coming off the takedown of Long Beach State last weekend.

Following a delayed start because the previous dual ran long, the Beach Dawgs made their presence known against the previously undefeated Arizona Wildcats. Henson and Wilcock got the afternoon matches started, picking up the first match win against the No. 2 Wildcat pair, who came into the weekend undefeated as a pair. The duo secured their sixth win of the season

Ulrich and Balue brought home the second win by mounting a two-point comeback in the second set. Piper Monk-Heidrich and Maggy Rabitsch won the dual for the Huskies after winning the first set by nine points and the second by three while battling through heavy rain that kicked up during their set. Mather and Dahl also posted a win to close out the day strengthening the Huskies’ win.

Up Next: The Huskies are taking No. 1  UCLA at 1 p.m. and No. 3 USC at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
