Illinois Volleyball Hosts Lift For Life On July 21 To Change The Future Of Rare Disease

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Illinois Volleyball Chapter of Uplifting Athletes announced its first Lift For Life to support the rare disease community taking place on July 21.

Lift For Life is the signature awareness and fundraising event for the Illinois Chapter of Uplifting Athletes. Illinois Volleyball is a part of a national network of collegiate chapters which embrace the mission of Uplifting Athletes by using their platform to inspire and invest in the rare disease community through the power of sport.

“Uplifting Athletes believes that something as simple as a workout can inspire hope and create a brighter future for those affected by rare disease.” said Uplifting Athletes Director of Sports Engagement Brett Brackett. “There is still a lot of work to be done knowing that there are fewer than 500 FDA-approved treatments currently available on the market for over 10,000 known rare diseases.

Today, the challenges faced by the rare community are bigger than any one individual, team, or organization can tackle alone. However, the Illinois Volleyball Chapter is uniquely positioned to shine a spotlight on this cause and drive awareness beyond their field, locker room, and workout facilities through their Lift For Life which is set at an impressive $1,000 fundraising goal.

Fans, family, and friends can support the Fighting Illini by making a flat donation or pledging for the average number of 225 lb. bench press reps during the event by clicking here
