Iosia’s Career-High 27 Digs Leads Volleyball Against (RV) Washington

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State volleyball closed out Homecoming Weekend on Sunday afternoon falling to receiving votes Washington, 3-1 (17-25, 25-18, 25-18, 25-18) at the Breslin Student Events Center. Senior libero Nalani Iosia matched her career-high with 27 digs, tying for the third most digs in a match by a B1G player this season.
 
MSU moves to 7-12 (0-8 B1G) while Washington improves to 14-4 (4-4 B1G). The Spartans wrap up their two-week homestand and will return to the road next weekend in Los Angeles taking on USC on Thursday, Oct. 24 and UCLA on Saturday, Oct. 26. Thursday night’s match at USC will be televised nationally on Big Ten Network.
 
Junior outside hitter Akasha Anderson had her best output of the season with a season-high 18 kills on .316 hitting and a block. Also with double-digit kills was junior outside hitter Taylor Preston who added 12. Sophomore middle blocker Zuzanna Kulig hit an efficient .545 with six kills and six blocks.
 
Senior setter Julia Bishop matched her career-high with four blocks, tallying her fifth double-double of the year with 35 assists and 13 digs. Sophomore outside hitter Taylah Holdem crossed the double-digit dig threshold for the second time this season finishing with 12.
 
Iosia’s 40 digs this weekend moved her into seventh all-time for career digs at Michigan State with 1,261. This season Iosia is averaging 4.51 digs/set which would be good for sixth all-time for a single season at MSU.
