A WEEK IN REVIEW
- The Notre Dame Fighting Irish suffered their first loss at home this season as the Irish (8-3) fell to the No. 5 Louisville Cardinals (12-1) at Purcell Pavilion on Wednesday, Sept. 27 in three sets (12-25, 18-25, 16-25).
- The Irish were led by Lucy Trump with seven kills, followed by Sydney Palazzolo with six kills.
- Charity McDowell recorded a team-best five blocks, while Phyona Schrader and Trump each chipped in four blocks a piece.
- Priot to Wednesday’s match, Notre Dame started conference play 0-2 as the Irish opened up ACC play defeating the Eagles in a five set thriller (25-21, 16-25, 24-26, 25-15, 15-6) on Friday, Sept. 22.
- Freshman Ava Lange led the Irish with a career-high 17 kills, followed by Sydney Palazzolo with 15 kills and 18 digs.
- Nicole Drewnick dished out 47 assists, while also recording seven kills and a .438 hitting percentage.
- Notre Dame capped off the weekend with a sweep over the Syracuse Orange (26-24, 25-9, 25-18).
- Palazzolo led Sunday’s match with 13 kills and a .588 hitting percentage. Phyona Schrader also recorded 10 kills and a team-best .643 attack percentage.
HISTORY VS. NC STATE
- This will be the 17th matchup between the Irish and the Wolfpack as Notre Dame trails the overall series 7-9.
- The Irish were 0-2 against NC State last season as they fell in four sets in Purcell Pavilion (20-25, 25-22, 18-25, 23-25) on Nov. 6, 2022 and three sets on the road (20-25, 17-25, 23-25) on Nov. 19. 2022.
- In their first faceoff last season, Lucy Trump lead Notre Dame with 13 kills and nine blocks.
- In their second matchup on the road, the Irish were led by Lucy Trump and Avery Ross who tallied 10 kills a piece for Notre Dame.
- Notre Dame’s last win over the Wolfpack was on Nov. 12, 2021 at Purcell Pavilion where the Irish swept the Wolfpack in three (25-16, 25-17, 25-20).
