Italian sitting volleyball teams ramp up preparations for 2024

The preparation of the Italian women’s sitting volleyball team continues to ramp up, as the reigning European champions are set to return to the Dream Volley Centre in Pisa for two more intensive sessions.

The first gathering is scheduled from February 23-25, followed by the second session from March 1-3. During these periods, the spotlight will be on the Azzurre as they train alongside the Ukrainian women’s team, who are gearing up for the Paralympic Qualification Tournament.

The roster for the two camps in Pisa features a stellar lineup, including Giulia Bellandi, Eva Ceccatelli, Sara Cirelli, Elisa Spediacci (Dream Volley Pisa SSD); Flavia Barigelli (ASD Astrolabio 2000); Raffaela Battaglia (ASD Villese Volley Villa San Giovanni); Silvia Biasi (Volley Codognè); Francesca Bosio (Argentario Calisio Volley); Anna Ceccon (Giocoparma ASD); Sara Desini (Pallavolo Olbia); Alessandra Moggio (ANCIS Villaricca); Asia Sarzi Amadè (Energy Volley); Roberta Pedrelli (Volley Club Cesena).

Meanwhile, the Italian men’s team will hit the court at Milan’s Pavesi Centre from February 24-26, marking their third camp of the season following sessions in Pisa and Tirrenia.

The Italian contingent, headed by coach Alireza Moameri, will utilise these days to fine-tune their skills in anticipation of the season’s opener – the Silver Nations League, which is slated for June 28-30 in Slovenia.

After their Milan stint, Federico Ripani and his compatriots will embark on a trip to Bellerive-sur-Allier in Lyon, France from March 22-24 for joint-training sessions with the French national team.

The roster for the Milan camp comprises of Simone Burzacchi (Volley Club Cesena); Gabriel Busillo (Volley Academy Teodoro Cicatelli); Mattia Cordioli, Davide Posenato (ASD Cus Verona); Cristiano Crocetti, Federico Ripani, Luca Vallasciani (Fermana ASD Volleyball School); Roberto Dalmasso, Orazio Tallarita (Cuneo Volley); Alessandro Issi, Fabio Marsiliani (ASD Fiano Romano Volleyball); Paolo Mangiacapra, Sergio Ignoto (ASD Nola Città Dei Gigli).
