Jennifer Koestner and Robert Davidson Named SUNY Cortland Athletes of the Week


Senior women’s volleyball outside hitter Jennifer Koestner (Syosset) and senior men’s cross country runner Robert Davidson (Setauket/Ward Melville) have been selected as the SUNY Cortland Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sept. 29.

Jennifer finished with 42 kills (4.2 per set), a .333 attack percentage, eight aces, 10 digs and three blocks in a 2-1 week for the Red Dragons at the Johns Hopkins Invitational. She posted a career-high 18 kills in a four-set loss to nationally fifth-ranked Johns Hopkins, had 15 kills, a .500 attack percentage and three aces in a sweep over Eastern University and had nine kills, four aces and seven digs in a sweep of Mary Washington.

Robert Davidson

Robert was Cortland’s top finisher at the Roberts Wesleyan Harry F. Anderson Invitational, placing 54th out of 340 runners in 26 minutes, 33.1 seconds over 8,000 meters. He was the 22nd-best Division III finisher. Davidson helped Cortland finish seventh overall, and third among Division III schools, in the final team standings.
