MADISON, Wis. – Julia Orzol, a sophomore on the third-ranked Wisconsin volleyball team, has been named to the 2022 Academic All-District Volleyball team, selected by College Sports Communicators. The teams recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
Orzol, 6-foot outside hitter, is a two-year starter for the Badgers. This season, she has started in all 26 matches and played in all 92 sets. She ranks second on the
team with 2.71 kills per set, recording double-figure kills in 13 matches. Orzol has led the team in kills in eight matches this season.
A six-rotation player, Orzol adds 2.28 digs per set, which ranks second on the team. She has double-figure digs in eight matches, recording four double-doubles. Orzol adds 0.27 service aces and 0.50 blocks per set, both season bests, while also hitting a season-best .225.
As a freshman, the Olsztyn, Poland, native was named the 2021 Big Ten Freshman of the Year and was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman team. She was named the Big Ten Player of the Week once and the Big Ten Freshman of the Week three times.
In the classroom, Orzol has a perfect 4.00 cumulative grade point average in business.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in late December.
