Kennedy Martin Earns All-Region Honors


It marks her first career regional accolade.

 

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Kennedy Martin was named an American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All- Southeast Region selection, as announced on Tuesday.
 
The Fort Mill, South Carolina Native tabs her first-career regional award and joins a stellar group of 44 Florida players who have received All-Region Team distinctions from the AVCA.
 
An All-SEC and Freshman Team Honoree, Martin led the Gators and the conference in kills per set during the 2023 season with 4.35. She averaged 5.14 points per set, leading the way for Florida and second in the conference.
 
During her freshman campaign, Martin posted 10 or more kills in every match, six 20+ kill matches. She has registered the most kills by any freshman in Florida history with 492 total kills, surpassing Ziva Recek’s 440 record that was set in 2012.
 
Her career-high 28 kills against then No. 11 Tennessee on Nov. 3 and her 27 kills against then No. 13 Kentucky on Nov. 5 marks the first time since 2001 that a Florida player has recorded 50+ kills in back-to-back matches

  • Ranks 13th in points per set (5.14) and is 15th in the NCAA in total points (581.0)
  • Ranks 18th in the NCAA in kills per set (4.35) and in total kills (492)
  • Sits first in the conference in kills per set (4.35) and second in points per set (5.14)
  • All-SEC and All-Freshman Teams Honoree
  • Two-time SEC Overall/Offensive Player of the week in 2023 (Aug. 28, Sept. 4)
  • Named SEC Freshman of the Week on Sept. 11
  • AVCA National Division I Player of the Week on Aug. 29
