Kennedy Martin Selected as AVCA Second Team All-American


Martin is just the fourth Florida Freshman to earn either First, Second or Third Team All-American status. 

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Following a promising freshman season, Kennedy Martin was tabbed as Second Team All-American from the American Volleyball Coaches Association, as the organization announced Wednesday.

Martin becomes just the fourth Florida freshman named to either the First, Second or Third teams during a rookie campaign, joining Rhamat Alhassan (2014 – Second Team), Kelly Murphy (2008 – Third Team) and her current teammate Alexis Stucky who received Third Team during the 2022 season.

The Fort Mill, South Carolina Native tabs her first-career AVCA All-America honor and joins a stellar group of 48 players with 133 All-America honors since the 1991 season.

  • Recorded seven double-doubles this season
  • Her 492 kills registered during her rookie season is the most from any freshman in Florida history, surpassing Ziva Recek’s 440 record that was set in 2012.
  • Posted a career-high 28 kills against then No. 11 Tennessee on Nov. 3
  • Ties for fourth in program history for individual single-match kill record (rally scoring)
  • Her 28 kills against then No. 11 Tennessee on Nov. 3 and her 27 kills against then No. 13 Kentucky on Nov. 5 marks the first time since 2001 that a Florida player has recorded 50+ kills in back-to-back matches
  • She recorded 45 kills in the opening two matches of the 2023 season and was the most for a Florida freshman in therally-scoring era. Her 27 kills against South Florida were the most for a Florida freshman in their opening weekend of play in the rally-scoring era
  • Posted at least a .400 clip in 14 matches
  • Registered a career-high 9.0 blocks twice, last against Texas A&M on Oct. 20
  • Set a career-high 32.0 points in win over South Florida on August 26
