Powerhouse Egypt and Rwanda will try to keep their status in the zone as the teams to beat in the men’s and women’s competitions, respectively. These two squads will see action on the second day.
The Rwandan men’s team will start Day 2, facing Algeria at 10:00, then the women’s team led by captain and two-time Paralympian Liliane Mukobwankawe will face Nigeria at 16:00. Rio 2016 bronze medallists Egypt and Morocco will close the day’s triple-header at 16:15.
Days 3 and 4 will be packed with five matches each day, as the preliminary round continues featuring three men’s group matches and two women’s round robin clashes.
The double-gender six-day competition will take place in Lagos, Nigeria from January 29 to February 3, with the two winning teams qualifying to this year’s Paralympic Games in Paris.
