Kenzie Cogan Joins Illini Volleyball for Upcoming Campaign


CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Illinois Volleyball head coach Chris Tamas announced the addition of Kenzie Cogan on Monday. Cogan joins three other newcomers, Christina Martinez Mundo, Ashlyn Philpot and Laynie Smith, for the upcoming season.

Notes: Four-year letterwinner at Mount Notre Dame High School… Won a OHSAA state championship in 2020 and was in the final four in 2021… Two-time Defensive Player of the Year… Participated in ESPN Geico Invitational 2021… Named her high-school team captain in 2022 and 2023… Named to the JV and PrepVolleyball Club watch list… Earned a spot on the PrepVolleyball Top 150 list and the PrepVolleyball Central Zone Invitational Team… A six-time captain for her club team… Played for Elevation Volleyball Club for seven years and was a USAV qualifier for five years.

Coach Tamas on Cogan: “Kenzie will bring a lot to our team. She has played for highly competitive club and high-school programs and has played big roles everywhere she has competed. Kenzie has good range on defense and a nice touch as a passer. She will have an impact the minute she steps foot in the gym for the Illini. We are excited to add Kenzie to the roster and our FamILLy!”
