KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Just one week out from the opening match of the 2024 campaign, Tennessee volleyball hosts in-state foe Lipscomb for an exhibition at Food City Center on Friday night at 6:30.
The match will not be televised or streamed. Admission is free for all fans, and parking is available in G10 garage and in the G5 lot beside the arena. Gate B will be the entrance for general fans, while students and player guests are encouraged to use Gate C. The clear bag policy is in effect for all matches. The Lady Vols enter the season as the nation’s No. 15 team, which marked its highest ranking to start the season since 2012. Tennessee wastes no time getting into the thick of a loaded schedule, as the Big Orange hosts seventh-ranked Penn State on August 30 before heading to No. 6 Louisville on September 1 during the opening weekend.
Fan excitement is at an all-time high for Tennessee volleyball, which was on full display as hundreds of fans came out for the team’s Orange & White Scrimmage earlier this week. UT has sold a program-record season tickets already this year. Season tickets are still available with a new reserved seating option.
After losing four starters to graduation, including three All-Americans, Tennessee’s new-look roster during the 2024 campaign will be led by All-American setter Caroline Kerr and veteran middle blocker Keondreya Granberry. The Lady Vols boast five other returners who played at least 25 sets last season and two who started double-digit matches.
Kerr, who was named Preseason All-SEC by league coaches, ranked third nationally, second in the SEC and led all NCAA freshmen in assists per set at 11.75, recording 14 40-assist efforts and five 50-assist performances on the year. Granberry has led the Lady Vols in blocks each of her first two seasons on Rocky Top, totaling 211 with back-to-back seasons with more than 100, and she ranked second in the SEC in hitting percentage (.356) last year.
UT brought in nine newcomers to help replace the production from last year, with four transfers and five freshmen. Of the transfers, outside hitters Nina Cajic and Hayden Kubik are expected to play a major role in replacing the duo of Morgahn Fingall and Jenaisya Moore.
