Launch of Paris 2024 Anti-Doping E-Learning Course

The IPC, together with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), is launching the e-course ‘ADEL for Paris 2024 Paralympics’. Designed specifically for athletes, coaches and other support personnel participating in this year’s Paralympic Games, it follows the success of the first anti-doping e-learning courses introduced in 2021 and 2022.

ADEL for Paris 2024 Paralympics is a 45-minute online course that will help ensure athletes, coaches and support personnel arrive in Paris armed with the knowledge they need to compete clean. It provides an overview of the anti-doping programme at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games including the anti-doping rules, procedures and requirements – including how to check medications and apply for a Therapeutic Use Exemptions (TUE) – how to provide Whereabouts Information, and an explanation of athletes’ rights and responsibilities during the testing process.  It also contains key information such as important dates to be aware of.

The IPC supports the Education First principle where an athlete’s first experience with anti-doping is through education (before testing). Completing the course will help ensure athletes, coaches and other support personnel understand their rights and obligations under the rules – and by doing so, lower the risk of an athlete’s Games experience being spoiled by an unintentional anti-doping rules violation.

The course is available on WADA’s anti-doping education and learning (ADEL) platform (https://adel.wada-ama.org/learn/public/catalog/view/6) and is currently available in English, French and Spanish. It has also been adapted to ensure that visually impaired athletes can make their way with screen readers. Users will need to register with ADEL before they can enrol and complete it.

We acknowledge that the internet is not easily accessible for all. In such instances, the ADEL mobile app can be downloaded and the course completed offline.  Unfortunately, the course is not available outside of ADEL (as a hard copy resource).

As a signatory of the World Anti-Doping Code, each NPC is responsible for educating and promoting clean sport for athletes and support personnel prior to attending international competitions and events.
