ROMEOVILLE, Ill. — The Lewis men’s volleyball team starts its 2024 season this weekend at Penn State as the Flyers take on Central State Friday (Jan. 5) and host Penn State Saturday (Jan. 6).

Series History vs. Central State
Friday marks the first-ever meeting between both programs.
Series History vs. Penn State
Penn State leads the all-time series between the two programs 24-14 but Lewis won the most recent meeting back on May 4, 2021 in the NCAA Tournament sweeping the Nittany Lions 3-0.
2023 in Review
Lewis went 17-13 last season and had a 7-7 mark in the Midwestern Volleyball Intercollegiate Association. The Flyers went to the MIVA Tournament Semifinals, which marked the 15th straight season the Flyers made it to the MIVA Tournament Semifinals.
NCAA Division I-II Rankings
Lewis is ranked No. 16 in the Preseason AVCA/NVA Men’s Volleyball Coaches Poll.
Penn State is ranked No. 6 in the preseason poll while BYU is receiving votes.
Preseason All-MIVA
Lewis returns a wealth of experience to the team this season including Preseason All-MIVA Max Roquet (Johnston, Iowa/Johnston), who recorded 304 kills on a .261 attack percentage and All-MIVA Tournament Team Michael Sack (Oak Lawn, Ill./St. Laurence).
Upcoming Homestand
Lewis has their home opener next Thursday, January 11 as the Flyers host reigning national champions UCLA starting at 7 p.m. CT. The Flyers then host BYU on Saturday, January 13 at 7 p.m. CT.
