Lewis named United East Women's Volleyball Player of the Week


LATHAM, N.Y. – The United East Conference announced its weekly conference student-athlete of the week awards for Oct. 25 and Gallaudet University senior outside hitter Karita Lewis (Frederick, Md.) was named Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week.

Lewis was tremendous all week for the Bison, helping her squad go 4-1 overall. The senior racked up double-digit kills in all five matches, totaling 78 at the week’s end. She hit at a clip of .305 while also registering six aces. The outside hitter finished the week with her strongest finishes, collecting a pair of 18-kill double-doubles. Rounding out the scoresheet, Lewis gathered 46 digs, five blocks and two assists.

Penn St.-Berks senior libero Marie Durkota was selected as the Women’s Volleyball Defenisve Player of the Week.

GU HONORS
This is Gallaudet’s fifth United East Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week honor this season. This is the third United East weekly honor for Lewis in her career.
