Lewis' Paula Earns MIVA Defensive Player of the Week Award for Third Time this Season


ROMEOVILLE, Ill. — The Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association announced Tuesday (March 26) that sophomore Nico Paula (Tampa, Fla./Berkeley Preparatory School) was awarded MIVA Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts last weekend. Lewis won a pair of matches at Queens University (N.C.), winning 3-1 on Thursday (March 21) and 3-0 Saturday (March 23).

Paula recorded 24 total digs in both matches for the Flyers, with 12 in each. The Tampa, Fla. native added one assist in Thursday’s victory and two assists Saturday. He currently leads the conference with 185 total digs this season, which is good for No. 4 in NCAA-DI.

Lewis is in action this week with two home matches against Ball State. The first match will be a White Out on Thursday (March 27) at 7 p.m. CT at Neil Carey Arena. Then, it will be Senior Day on Saturday (March 29) at 5 p.m CT.
