ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The Great Lakes Valley Conference selected Jamie Poppen (Ballwin, Mo./Parkway West) as the GLVC nominee for the 2022 NCAA Woman of the Year Award. Poppen now moves on to the national selection process where she will compete against representatives from 21 other conferences for the NCAA Woman of the Year.
Poppen, a two-sport standout at Lewis, was a First-Team All-GLVC selection and the GLVC’s Libero of the Year in volleyball. She led the GLVC in digs per set with 6.46 and had 775 digs for the season. She was the Baden GLVC Defensive Player of the Week four times this past year and eight times in her career. She is the single season and career leader in digs with 775 and 2,133, respectively.
Poppen was named First Team Academic All-America by CoSIDA, as well as to the Division II Conference Commissioner’s Association All-America Second Team, while earning Third Team honors on the American Volleyball Coaches Association Team.
In track and field she took home first place in the javelin (43.27 meters) and had the No. 2 all-time throw in Lewis history and a NCAA provisional throw. She was a 2018 GLVC All-Conference member in the Pole Vault with a NCAA provisional vault and had the No. 2 vault in Lewis history.
She finished the year with a 4.0 GPA and ended her career with a 3.98 GPA.
