BOWLING GREEN, Ky. –  The Lindsey Wilson volleyball team secured a 3-2 win over Cumberlands (Ky.) on Thursday to advance to tomorrow’s Mid-South Conference Tournament Semifinals.

Lindsey Wilson dropped the opening set to fall behind but then won two straight sets to take the lead at 2-1. Cumberlands forced a fifth set with a win in the fourth before LWC won a tight 15-13 final frame to secure the victory.

Tied at 5-5 in the final frame, LWC scored three straight points on three kills from Alexis Smith. Lindsey Wilson maintained that lead until the Patriots pulled within one point at 11-10 and 12-11. The Blue Raiders secured the final three of four points to narrowly win the match.

With the win, the Blue Raiders advance to tomorrow’s semifinals where they will square off with top-seed Campbellsville (Ky.) at 5 p.m. CT.

Lindsey Wilson racked up 64 kills in the match as Smith was one kill shy of a career-high after finishing the match with 24. Aleksandra Wyrzkowska added 13 kills of her own while Camryn Rich rolled to a match-high 50 assists while adding 16 digs for a double-double.

Defensively, three Blue Raiders tallied double-digit digs with Embry Burgess picking up a team-high 19 and Logan Seagraves adding 10. Lindsey Wilson racked up 18 blocks in the contest as Elizabeth Moore guarded the net, scoring one solo and six blocking assists. Five different Blue Raiders recorded blocks in the match.

Cumberlands finished the match with a .273 hitting percentage to Lindsey Wilson’s .230 mark as the Patriots also managed 68 kills.

Lindsey Wilson advances to tomorrow’s MSC Semifinals against Campbellsville at 5 p.m. CT with a trip to the tournament finals on the line.
