COLUMBIA, Ky. – The No. 23-ranked and No. 2-seeded Lindsey Wilson volleyball team are going for their ninth straight Mid-South Conference tournament championship today when they take on No. 10-ranked and overall seed Life (Ga.) in the championship match in Bowling Green High Arena at 5 p.m. CT in Bowling Green, Ky.
The Blue Raiders (23-5, 13-3 MSC) enter the match after defeating No. 3-seed Thomas More (Ky.) (25-16, 25-21, 25-18) in the semifinals Friday evening. Johanna Alcantara led the way for the Blue Raiders finishing the game with 21 kills and a .455 hitting percentage. As a team, Lindsey Wilson put together 58 kills and a .374 hitting percentage with just 15 errors in the match. Camryn Rich had a double-double with 48 assists and 11 digs while Lauren Larzelere had a match-high 13 digs.
This season, Lindsey Wilson is hitting .284 – the fifth-best mark in the NAIA – while Radaisy Valdez continues to lead the NAIA in hitting percentage at .470.
Alcantara continues to lead the Blue Raiders in kills per set averaging 3.69 while Rich leads the team in assists per set averaging 10.52. Defensively, Larzelere leads the team in digs per set averaging 4.35.
No. 10-ranked and overall seed Life (32-1, 16-0 MSC) enter the game after a hard fought five-set win over No. 5-seed Cumberland (Tenn.). Lena Pucnik led the team in kills with 24 in the match while Jessie Prichard had 58 assists in the game. Defensively, Marin Black led with 32 digs.
The Running Eagles are hitting .246 while averaging 13.99 kills per set, the 7th best average in the NAIA. Life is also averaging 13.13 assists per set, the 8th best average in the nation while also averaging 2.39 service aces per set, the 6th best average in the country.
Lena Pucnik leads the team in kills per set averaging 3.69 while Jessie Prichard leads in assists per set averaging 11.69 per set, the 4th best average in the NAIA. Defensively, Marin Black leads the team in digs per set with 5.72.
This will be the 18th all-time meeting between these two programs with the Blue Raiders losing both regular season matches against the Running Eagles this season. The Blue Raiders lead the all-time series 14-3 and are 3-0 against the Running Eagles at neutral venues.
