COLUMBIA, Ky. – Following a wild showdown with the University of the Cumberlands on Tuesday evening, the Lindsey Wilson volleyball team is back inside the friendly confines of the Biggers Sports Center on Friday for the last of a five-game homestand against the University of Pikeville.

The Bears (4-12, 0-4 MSC) make the trip out east on Thursday to challenge Campbellsville University before stopping in Columbia. Through four in-league matches so far this season, Pikeville has stumbled offensively with a hitting percentage hovering below zero. It also has yet to win a set against a conference opponent.

Four different Pikeville attackers sit atop the team leaderboard with at least 50 kills, including freshman Jada Stone with a team-high 57. She is flanked by Daniela Hernandez and Marianne Negron Cordero who each have 55 successful attacks.

Defensively, senior specialist Mikela Cook has been on the receiving end of 137 digs, while junior Oksana Vucetic paces the Bears at the net with 28.0 total blocks.

That duo will undoubtedly have its hands full against a furious Blue Raider offense that totaled 78 kills a couple of nights ago.

At the head of Lindsey Wilson’s attack is the quartet of Savanah Pippin, Alexis Smith, Alix Stoermer, and Madison Bidwell, who have combined to make up 510 of the team’s 720 total kills.

Camryn Rich remains the primary distributor for the locals with 492 assists. The senior is rolling off a triple-double performance against the Patriots earlier this week in which she produced 57 assists, 19 digs, and a personal-best 11 kills.

Aiding Rich’s efforts on the defensive end of things is the combo of Natalie Ackermann and Embry Burgess. The latter of the two recently turned in a career-high 23 digs against the Cumberlands, while Ackermann continues to lead the Blue Raiders in total digs at 202.

Friday will be the 43rd edition of the all-time series between Lindsey Wilson and Pikeville. The locals have dominated their Mid-South foe with 41 victories, including in each of the last 20 meetings by three-set decisions.

Live stats and video will be available for the match that is slated to begin at 5 p.m. CST.
