BOULDER, Colo. – Outside hitter Charitie Luper registered a match-high 17 kills in the UCLA women’s volleyball team’s 3-1 loss to Colorado (23-25, 25-18, 15-25, 24-26) at the CU Events Center Friday night. It was the fifth time this season Luper scored 15-plus kills in a match which is good for best on the squad.
Freshman Cheridyn Leverette eclipsed double-digit kill numbers for the first time in her career with 13 kills at a .219 clip. Leverette also accounted for two solo blocks.
The Bruins (10-10, 4-7 Pac-12) hit for 53 kills at .149 compared to the Buffaloes’ (14-7, 6-5 Pac-12) 55 kills at .199. Colorado’s Maya Tabron, Lexi Hadrych and Meegan Hart each recorded double-digit kills.
Matti McKissock tallied a team-high 38 assists and a career-high 20 digs. McKissock’s former career high was 16 which came against Penn State as a member of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in 2021.
UCLA dug itself out of a 5-0 hole to begin the match with a 5-0 run of its own, capped off by back-to-back kills by Anna Dodson. Dodson, who competed in her first match since Oct. 16 versus Oregon, finished with 11 kills and three block assists tonight.
