Madelyn Robinson Named Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week

SAN FRANCISCO – Utah Volleyball outside hitter Madelyn Robinson has been named the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday afternoon. Robinson landed a spot on the All-Tournament Team over the past weekend’s tournament in West Lafayette, Ind., after averaging 4.54 kills per set to lead Utah.

Robinson first recorded a career high 21 kills in Utah’s five-set victory against Milwaukee, while also adding a career-best 18 digs for her first double-double of the season. The fifth year senior then turned around and recorded a new career high of 26 kills later in the day against Purdue in five sets. It was another double-double effort for Robinson as she posted 16 digs against the Boilermakers.

The 21 and 26-kill efforts were just the second and third times of her career to hit the 20-plus kill mark in a match. Robinson then closed out her outstanding weekend with a match-high 12 kills against Bradley to lead Utah in the sweep.

The Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week honor for Robinson is the first of her career and the first by any Ute this season. She is averaging a team-best 4.26 kills per set, which ranks second in the Pac-12 through the first two weeks of play.

Robinson and the Utes will head to San Diego this Friday and Saturday, Sept. 9-10, for another non-conference tournament. Utah will open action against SMU on Friday at 6 p.m. MT at Jenny Craig Pavilion. On Saturday, the Utes will begin the day with a match against UConn at 11 a.m. MT before playing No. 12-ranked San Diego at 8 p.m. MT.
