Magraw Moves To Assistant Coaching Role

SEATTLE – Former Husky letterwinner Justice Magraw will move into an assistant coaching role this season, continuing to play an integral role on the Washington staff in Leslie Gabriel‘s first year as Head Coach. Magraw, a 2015 graduate, was the Technical Coordinator last year and also spent the 2021 season as a volunteer.

“Justice is a student of the game and is constantly trying to better herself as a coach,” said Gabriel. “Not only is she a great coach but she is a great person who genuinely cares about each person in her life.  Justice’s passion for people, life, and volleyball is what has gotten her to this point in her career.  She also is a former Husky who understands the demands that it takes to become the best that you can be in all facets of your life and can pass on the Washington Way to current and future Huskies.”

Magraw will assist Gabriel with coaching the liberos and Washington’s back row defense, as well as working on UW’s passing and serving. She will also engage and grow Washington’s alumni connections and community outreach.

“My journey with this program started fourteen years ago as a young volleyball fan and has gone through many roles and experiences,” says Magraw. “What drew me to UW Volleyball and keeps me coming back is that I truly believe in the culture, values, and ideals of this program. As a fan, alumni, and staff member, I have witnessed the development of this program over the years and I am passionate about honoring the legacy of the incredible people who have come before us while also pushing the program to explore and adapt into what we want it to grow into.

“I am honored to continue supporting Tui in her vision for our team as people and student-athletes and I’m so proud of how she has taken on her new role as Head Coach with so much care, commitment, and vulnerability. I love working with the staff she has put together and I am grateful to continue learning, growing, and contributing to this program that means so much to me. I can’t wait to continue to share all I have learned with the players, and I hope to empower them in their own journey of becoming. I am so excited to take on this new role with UW Volleyball!”

A native of Redmond, Wash., Magraw was a defensive specialist for the Huskies from 2012-15, during which time the Huskies had three 30-win seasons and totaled 117 victories, a program record. She earned her Bachelors degree majoring in Communications and graduated cum laude,…
