Match Preview: #20 Lady Vols Begin SEC Play Against Alabama


KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The 20th-ranked Tennessee Lady Vols open conference play this week with a home contest against the Alabama Crimson Tide at Food City Center on Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET.
 
The match will be televised on the SEC Network. Doors open one hour before each match, and fans can purchase tickets on AllVols.com. Parking is available in G3, G4 and G5 lots beside the arena. Gate B will be the entrance for general fans, while students and player guests are encouraged to use Gate C. The clear bag policy is in effect for all matches. Additional items to know before coming out for a competition can be found on the Volleyball Gameday Page. The first 250 fans to enter the arena will receive the Volunteer State rope hat shown below.
 


 
Last year, Tennessee (7-3) swept Alabama (8-3) in Tuscaloosa. The Lady Vols currently hold a 43-20 record against the Crimson Tide, which dates back to 1973. 
 
The Big Orange enters league play on a two-match win streak and victors in seven of its last eight matches. Last week, UT topped Western Michigan twice in Knoxville.
 
Graduate student Nina Cajic enjoyed a record-breaking night in the first match against WMU on Thursday, recording a Tennessee record and SEC modern era record 42 kills on .500 hitting. The SEC Co-Offensive Player of the Week averaged 10.5 kills per set and bested the previous UT record of 41 kills by Stephanie Ehlers against Washington State on Sept. 24, 1988.
