KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Texas A&M volleyball team heads on the road to face the No. 12 Volunteers at the Food City Center with first serve set for 1 p.m. CT.
The Aggies dropped a pair of matches last week to then No. 17 Florida (3-1) and Georgia (3-0). In Friday’s match with the Gators, the squads traded tightly contested sets both ending 25-23. Florida broke the tie and won back-to-back frames to take the match. On Sunday, the Bulldogs handed the Maroon & White their first 3-0 loss of the season.
Tennessee snapped a two-match losing streak last time out, as the Volunteers downed Missouri on the road (3-1). Tennessee holds a conference record of 8-2 which is ranks them third, while the Aggies are tied for fifth with a 6-4 league record.
Last season the squads played a pair of matches in Reed Arena, with the Aggies taking victory in the opener (3-2) and the Volunteers claiming the second match (3-0) the following day.
The Maroon & White have a one match advantage in the all-time series, 12-11. Since joining the SEC, A&M holds a record of 10-6 in league play. When the teams play in Knoxville the record is tied 6-6.
Freshman Bianna Muoneke recorded her first back-to-back 10+ kill matches in league play, as she logged 13 versus Florida and 12 against Georgia.
In Friday’s match with the Gators, Ifenna Cos-Okpalla tallied six kills which pushed her beyond 100 on the season.
