Men’s Volleyball Drops Road Match To Elizabethtown

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.- The Immaculata University men’s volleyball team was back in action on Tuesday evening as they visited Elizabethtown College. Immaculata fell to Elizabethtown by a score of 3-0 (16-25, 22-25, 12-25). 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

Josh McGurl led Immaculata with 10 kills and two digs. Brandon Lieberman had four kills and four digs. Michael Prall had three kills and one dig. Brandon Fox had two kills and two service aces. Joe Martell had one kill, distributed 19 assists, and had six digs. Matthew Pfister had a team-high eight digs. 

HOW IT HAPPENED 

In the first set, the teams exchanged points early in the set. Elizabethtown would use an 8-2 run to take a 20-11 lead. Brandon Fox would serve consecutive points late in the set including a service ace as Immaculata closed the score to 24-16. Elizabethtown would win the first set 25-16. 

In set two, Immaculata took an early lead 2-1 lead on a kill by Brandon Lieberman. Josh McGurl would follow with a pair of kills to pull Immaculata even a 5-5. Joe Martell would serve consecutive points to give Immaculata a 10-9 lead. Immaculata would get a service ace from Brandon Fox, and kills from Josh McGurl, Brandon Lieberman, and Jack Debes to pull Immaculata within two points at 24-22. Elizabethtown held on to take set two 25-22. 

In set three, Elizabethtown took an early 3-0 lead. Immaculata would get kills from Josh McGurl, Brandon Lieberman, and Joe Martell. Elizabethtown closed out the 3-0 win, taking set three 25-12.
