Men's Volleyball Set For 2023 Season Opener


IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata men’s volleyball team is set to kick off the 2023 season as they visit Eastern University tonight at 7:00 PM. In the off season the Mighty Macs left the Continental Volleyball Conference and will be playing a 19 match NCAA Division III Independent schedule in 2023.

Head Coach Rob Smith‘s team will be a veteran team again this season with all, but two members being returning veterans. Graduate Student Garrett Pepper and seniors John Bohrer and John Carter leading the charge for the Macs. Pepper has been the leading force on both sides of the ball for the Macs leading the team in kills with 195, digs with 139 and blocks with 24.

John Bohrer will continue to be a key member of the Macs veteran core this season. In 2022, Bohrer led the Macs with 22 service aces, and was second in kills with 133, and second in digs with 125.

Juniors Steven Dao, Jack Debes, Joe Martell, and Thomas Pierce will add to the Macs veteran presence on the court. Martell who serves as the team’s primary setter led the team in 2022 with 431 assists, and added 121 digs, and 14 service aces. Jack Debes tied for second on the team in blocks with 19. Sophomore Matthew Pfister and first year players Brandon Fox and Evan Timlin will round out the roster for the Macs.

Following tonight’s match, the Immaculata men’s volleyball team will return home on Saturday, January 21st when they host the University of Valley Forge for their home opener at Alumnae Hall at 1:00 PM.
