Men’s Volleyball Splits Tri-Match against Roanoke and Hood

FREDERICK, Md- The Immaculata men’s volleyball team (2-2) competed in a tri-match today vs. Roanoke College and Hood College. The Mighty Macs earned a split in the tri-match losing their first match to Roanoke 3-0, and defeated Hood in their second match 3-0.

Immaculata’s first match of the day was against Roanoke. The first set was competitive as the Immaculata jumped out to an early 8-2 lead. Roanoke would continue to chip away at the lead, and Immaculata led late 23-22. Roanoke score three straight points to take the first set 25-23.

Roanoke would go on to close out the match taking set two by a score of 25-13 and set three by a score of 25-12.

In the first match, the Macs were led by Garrett Pepper with seven kills, Joe Martell with 13 Assists, and Matthew Pfister with 10 digs.

Immaculata’s second match of the day was against Hood College. In the first set Immaculata used a six-point run fueled by five serves from Evan Timlin including two service aces. Immaculata would close out the first set on a kill by Jack Debes taking the set 25-17.

In set two Immaculata would use a five-point run to take a 19-12 lead behind consecutive kills by Joe Martell, and a service ace from Garrett Pepper. Immaculata would take the second set 25-17.

In the third set Immaculata jumped out to an early 6-1 lead with John Bohrer serving four straight points. Immaculata would close out the match on a kill by John Bohrer winning the set 25-13.
