Men’s Volleyball Tops Stevenson in Four

OWINGS MILLS, Md.—The Elizabethtown men’s volleyball (4-1) earned another thrilling four-set win, Saturday as they defeated Stevenson (2-3), 3-1 inside Owings Mills Gymnasium.

Set one started in a tight affair as Elizabethtown trailed by just one early. Logan Smith smacked down a kill at, 4-5. After trading points, Etown got in a grove as they went on a 8-0 forcing a Stevenson timeout midway through the run. Kills from Nick Chapman, Tony Camillo and, Steven Swain brought the score to 17-11, Etown. The Mustangs then gained momentum as they came within two of the Blue Jays. A kill from Swain and Kyle McKiernan brought Etown’s lead to 20-16. A Mustang kill cut Elizabethtown’s lead to 23-20. Cheston Jacobs brought the Blue Jays to set point with a kill and a Smith kill ended the set, 25-21.

Stevenson began set two with a slight lead, 5-3 after a Mustang kill. After trading points to 11-14, Stevenson, Etown tied up the set at 14-all after two Stevenson attack errors. After the Mustangs went on a 5-1 run at 18-23, Elizabethtown surged to a 26-24 win after an 8-1 run. Two kills from Swain and one from Camillo along with several Mustang errors ended set two.

Set three started tightly contested with Stevenson out in front, 10-8. The Mustangs then jumped out to a 16-11 lead after two Blue Jay errors. The Blue Jays went on a three-point run which ended with a Jacobs kill. Stevenson extended their lead to 22-16 and ended the set, 25-19 with a big block.

Set four also remained close as they two teams were tied early, 6-6. Two kills in a row from Swain gave Etown a 10-8 lead….
