Monks, Henseler Named PNC Achievers of the Week

PITTSBURGH – Volleyball’s Emma Monks and Men’s Cross Country’s Luke Henseler were named the Pitt Athletics PNC Achievers of the Week.

Emma Monks and No. 7 Pitt dominated No. 8 Georgia Tech on the road in a sweep last Friday evening. Monks recorded eight blocks and six kills on her six swings as she hit a 1.000 for the match. Her most kills in a match also came against Georgia Tech when she recorded 11 in a five-set thriller earlier this season. The Panthers look to defeat another ranked opponent this Saturday, November 18 at 1 p.m. as they take on No. 5 Louisville at the Petersen Events Center.

Luke Henseler has punched his ticket to the NCAA Cross Country Championship for the second consecutive year after a dominant performance at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship on Friday, November 10th. He finished fifth overall in the 10K championship race, the highest-ever finish for a Panther, with a new personal best time of 29:30.3. Henseler also received All-Region recognition, an honor given to the top twenty-five finishers. Henseler will represent Pitt when he travels to Charlottesville, Va. for the 10K championship race on Saturday, November 18. The race is scheduled to start at 11:10 a.m. ET and can be watched on ESPNU.
