KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee right-side attacker Morgahn Fingall added another honor to her name Wednesday, garnering American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Second Team All-America recognition.
Fingall was named AVCA Southeast All-Region for the second time in her career last week and has now earned All-America accolades for the first time.
The senior finished the 2022 season with a career-high 483 kills – the second-most in Tennessee history during the 25-point rally-scoring era. Her 4.39 kills per set mark were also the second-most by a Lady Vol during the 25-point era.
At the end of the regular season, Fingall ranked first in the Southeastern Conference in kills per set and points per set at 4.36 and 5.10. Nationally, her 5.10 points per set were 12th, while ranking 17th in kills per set.
Additionally, the Fairfax, Virginia, native was tabbed to the All-SEC Team and was named the league’s scholar-athlete of the year – becoming just the second player in program history to earn the award.
During the year, Fingall earned AVCA National Player of the Week honors on Sept. 13 and was named SEC Player of the Week three times, while picking up SEC Offensive Player of the Week honors four times.
On Nov. 5 against LSU, she eclipsed the 1,000 career kill milestone. In doing so, Fingall became the 23rd player in program history to reach the mark and just the 10th to do so in the rally-scoring era.
Fingall is the 22nd Lady Vol to earn All-America accolades in program history and is the fourth to do so under Rackham Watt – joining Erica Treiber, Tessa Grubbs, Danielle Mahaffey and Breanna Runnels.
The attacker will return to Rocky Top for the 2023 season, using her extra year of eligibility granted by the NCAA in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
