Mruzik Named to Big Ten Preseason All-Conference Team

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Junior outside hitter Jess Mruzik of the University of Michigan volleyball team was named to the Big Ten preseason All-Conference Team on Monday (Aug. 1).

Mruzik was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association All-North Region First Team and received AVCA All-America Honorable Mention recognition last season as a sophomore. Last season, she had a career-high 31 kills and 53 total attacks against Duke (Sept. 10), recorded a season-high 16 digs against Penn St. (Nov. 5) and set a career best with four service aces against Indiana (Oct. 20). Mruzik also tied for the team lead with Paige Jones with 389 and led the team outright in points with 446. She also posted 10.

The Wolverines start the 2022 campaign against Old Dominion in Flagstaff, Ariz. on Aug. 26.

The Big Ten also released its preseason poll Monday, with the Wolverines picked to finish tied for sixth with Illinois. Wisconsin, the defending NCAA champion, was picked to finish first with NCAA runner-up Nebraska chosen to finish second.
