The tournament is held with aims of promoting women’s volleyball in the region and helping each team sharpen their skill in order to achieve greater heights and make themselves well-prepared for future major competitions. Thailand, current world No.14, will make this three-day event tuneup matches in their final preparation for the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship in Poland and Netherlands from September 23 to October 16, 2022.

The inaugural ASEAN Grand Prix in 2019 was split into two legs. Nakhon Ratchasima, a large province on the northeastern plateau and acting as a gateway to other provinces in the Northeast with an approximate distance of 259km from capital city Bangkok, hosted the first leg of the single round-robin tournament at Terminal Hall during September 20 and 22.

Hosts Thailand performed superbly to reign supreme, with Indonesia, Philippines and Vietnam in second, third and fourth places respectively.

The second leg of the three-day competition took place in Santa Rosa, Philippines between October 4 and 6, with Thailand too strong for all challengers to capture their second title without dropping a single set to their rivals. The respective rankings remained unchanged with Indonesia, Philippines and Vietnam in respective second, third and fourth places.
