Nalani Iosia Named AVCA All-Region Honorable Mention

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Senior libero Nalani Iosia was named an American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-North Region honorable mention on Tuesday. Iosia is just the second Spartan volleyball player to be named to an All-Region team since 2017 and is the first libero to earn the honor since Kori Moster in 2014.

Iosia posted a career-best year in her second season as a Spartan, collecting career-bests in digs (483) and digs per set (4.16). Iosia’s 483 digs rank No. 8 all-time for a single season at MSU, while her 4.16 digs per set ranks No. 9.

A two-time team captain since arriving on campus, Iosia was named as a B1G Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 5, 2023, after earning MVP honors at the inaugural Kathy DeBoer Invitational. Iosia twice set a new career-high in single-match digs this past season, recording 27 against both Northwestern (five sets) and Iowa (four sets).

Prior to the conclusion of the season, Iosia announced that she will return to MSU for a third campaign in 2024, electing to use her fifth year of eligibility. Iosia finished the B1G season ranked No. 5 in digs per set and No. 4 in total digs.
