No. 1 USC Beach Volleyball Racks Up Two Over No. 4 TCU and No. 17 FAU

LOS ANGELES – The No. 1-ranked USC beach volleyball team (20-2) earned 5-0 sweeps over fourth-ranked TCU (18-3) and 17th-ranked FAU (12-9) in the Death Volley Invitational at Beach Volleyball Stadium in Baton Rouge, La. on Friday, March 29. These two wins extend the Women of Troy to a 16-dual win streak, which stands as the fifth longest run in program history.

 

The Women of Troy improved to 8-1 all-time against the Horned Frogs and to 7-0 over the Owls with a seven-dual win streak over FAU. In 5-0 finishes, the Trojans moved to 152-2 all-time and collected their 13th and 14th sweeps of the season. In its first trip to the Pelican State, USC upped its all-time record in Louisiana to ­­­­2-0. The Trojans improved to 146-16 in duals when ranked No. 1 in the AVCA coaches’ poll.

 

At the top court, All-American seniors Megan Kraft and Delaynie Maple won their 16th straight match and improved to 21-1 on the season with wins over Hailey Hamlett and Anhelina Khmil (21-14, 21-23, 15-13) of TCU and Courtney Moon and Marketa Svolzilova (21-11, 21-13) of FAU. The two wins push Kraft-Maple to 49-4 all-time and just one win from becoming the eighth USC duo to win 50 matches.

 

Grads Maddi Kriz and Grace Seits had a pair of straight set wins at the No. 2 position, beating Sutton MacTavish and Anete Namike (21-15, 21-17) of TCU and Reese Edwards and Sloane Woolwine (21-15, 21-12) of FAU. They extend their win streak to 14 matches and improve to 17-1 overall.

 

Twin graduates Audrey Nourse and Nicole Nourse won in straight sets at court three against TCU and won in a tiebreaker third set against FAU. They improve to 17-4 on the season and 108-20 all-time with wins over Luana Araco and Hallie Frist (21-16, 21-14) of TCU and Ashleigh Adams and Julie Honzovicova (22-20, 18-21, 15-10) of FAU.

 

Freshman Ashley Pater sophomore Madison White paired to go 8-0 overall with a three-set victory over Tara Patton and Ana Vergara (19-21, 21-19, 15-6) of TCU, and a straight-set win over Logan Mignerey and Alivia Orvieto (25-23, 21-11) of FAU.
