No. 1 USC Beach Volleyball Splits Final Death Volley Duals with No. 10 LSU and No. 5 FSU

BATON ROUGE, La. – The No. 1-ranked USC beach volleyball team (21-3) fell, 3-2, to 10-ranked LSU (13-7) but pulled out the win, 4-1, against fifth-ranked FSU (20-5) in the Death Volley Invitational at Beach Volleyball Stadium in Baton Rouge, La. on Saturday, March 30. USC’s loss to LSU snapped the season’s 16-dual win streak.
 
The Women of Troy fell to 6-3 all-time against the Tigers and rose to 21-5 over the Seminoles, ending a three-dual win streak over LSU and extending an eight-dual win streak over FSU. In losses this season, two of USC’s three finishes have been narrow 3-2 decisions. In its first trip to the Pelican State, USC moved its all-time record in Louisiana to ­­­­3-1. The Trojans are now to 147-17 in duals when ranked No. 1 in the AVCA coaches’ poll.
 
At the top court, All-American seniors Megan Kraft and Delaynie Maple won their 18th straight match and improved to 23-1 on the season with wins over Gabi Bailey and Ellie Shank (19-21, 21-13, 15-9) of LSU and Alexis Durish and Anna Long (21-15, 21-10) of Florida State.
The two wins push Kraft-Maple to 51-4 all-time, and they become the eighth USC duo to win 50 matches.
 
Graduates Maddi Kriz and Grace Seits lost both their matches, defeated by Reilly Allred and Parker Bracken (21-18, 12-21, 15-13) of LSU and Madelyne Anderson and Alli Hansen (21-18, 21-19) of FSU. Kriz and Seits fall to 17-3 overall as a pair. Twin graduates Audrey Nourse and Nicole Nourse split their matches, falling to Ella Larkin and Aubrey O’Gorman (21-19, 17-21, 19-17) of LSU and beating Audrey Koenig and Raelyn White (21-17, 17-21, 25-23) of FSU. They are now 18-5 on the season and 109-21 all-time.
 
Freshman Ashley Pater sophomore Madison White paired to go 9-1 overall, dropping to Amber Haynes and Skylar Martin (23-21, 18-21, 15-13) of LSU and rising over Kaeli Crews and McKenna Flaherty (21-15, 21-11) of Florida State.
 
At the fives, graduate Ainsley Radell and sophomore Mabyn Thomas paired for the third and fourth time to get wins of the Tigers and the Seminoles. They toppled Kate Baker and Emily Meyer (21-11, 21-14) of LSU and Caitlin Moon and Kaileigh Truslow (21-19, 21-16) of FSU.
