No. 1 USC Beach Volleyball Sweeps Concordia and No. 12 Hawai’i

LOS ANGELES – The No. 1-ranked USC beach volleyball team (18-2) earned 5-0 sweeps over Concordia (13-6) and 12th-ranked Hawai’i (9-8) at Merle Norman Stadium on Tuesday, March 19, to extend to a 14-dual win streak, which matches the fifth longest run in program history.
 
The Women of Troy improved to 5-0 all-time against the Golden Eagles and to 17-3 over the Rainbow Wahine with a five-dual win streak over UH. In 5-0 finishes, the Trojans moved to 150-2 all-time and collected their 11th and 12th sweeps of the season. USC also upped its all-time record at Merle Norman Stadium to 89-11 with a school-record 24-dual win streak on home sand still growing. The Trojans improved to 144-16 in duals when it is ranked No. 1 in the AVCA coaches’ poll.
 
At the top court, All-American seniors Megan Kraft and Delaynie Maple won their 14th straight match and improved to 19-1 on the season with straight-set wins over Kelissa Lemoine and Kali Uhl (21-8, 21-11) of Concordia and Alana Embry and Jaime Santer (21-18, 21-14) of Hawai’i. The two wins push Kraft-Maple to 47-4 all-time and just three wins from becoming the eighth USC duo to win 50 matches.
 
Grads Maddi Kriz and Grace Seits put together a pair of straight-set wins, first at the No. 3 position against Concordia and then at the No. 2 spot against UH to extend to a 13-match win streak and improve to 15-1 overall.
 
Twin graduates Audrey Nourse and Nicole Nourse got a straight set win at court two against CUI and then did the same from court three against the Rainbow Wahine to improve to 15-4 overall and to 106-20 all-time. Freshman Madison Goellner and sophomore Gabby Walker moved to 6-0 with a win at the No. 4 against CUI. Graduate Molly Phillips and sophomore Mabyn Thomas paired for the first time to get a win at the No. 5 position over the Golden Eagles.
