PROVO, Utah – The 11th-ranked USC men’s volleyball team (8-12, 1-6 MPSF) fell to seventh-ranked BYU (15-6, 5-4) in four sets, 25-21, 22-25, 25-17, 25-20, at Smith Fieldhouse on Thursday, March 30.
KEY PLAYERS
- Fr. OH Dillon Klein led USC with 17 kills (5e, 28att) and hit .429 to go with five digs and a service ace. It was his 16th time in double-digit kills and his 17th time in double-digit points.
- Gr. OH Kevin Kobrine added 14 kills (3e, 25att, .440) with three blocks and two digs. Kobrine logged his 11th match in double-digit kills and his 14th in double-digit points.
- Sr. OPP Simon Gallas had 10 kills with two digs, three blocks and a service ace. For Gallas, it was his 11th match in double-digit kills and his 15th in double-digit points this season.
- Jr. S Nate Tennant dished out 30 assists with two digs.
- Sr. LIB George Dyer led the Trojans with 10 digs for his fourth match in double-digit digs.
- For the Cougars, Kupono Browne led with 22 kills on .395 hitting. Miks Ramanis posted 13 kills on .440 hitting with six digs. Gavin Julien had 10 kills on .562 hitting to go with three digs, two blocks, and two service aces.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first set was tied nine times and the lead changed hands five times with the Trojans up by three at 17-14, but BYU stormed back to take a 25-21 win. USC hit .286 and got five kills from Klein and three apiece from Kobrine and Gallas.
