No. 13 USC Men’s Volleyball Falls to No. 7 Stanford on The Farm

STANFORD, Calif. – The 13th-ranked USC men’s volleyball team (12-13, 3-8 MPSF) fell to No. 7 Stanford (12-11, 5-6) in three sets (25-19, 25-19, 25-23) at Maples Pavilion on Friday, April 12.
 
KEY PLAYERS

  • So. OH Dillon Klein had 14 kills to register double-digit kills for the 20th time this season (40th in his career). He also had six digs and a block to lead all scorers with 14.5 points.
  • Fr. setter Caleb Blanchette put up 25 assists and added four digs and two kills.
  • Sr. MB Kyle Paulson scored on four kills (0e, 12att, .333) and had one dig.
  • Jr. LIB Austin Stuard posted six digs.
  • For the Cardinal, Theo Snoey led with 11 kills (1e, 16att, .625) and had two digs and two blocks. Kevin Lamp added eight kills on .471 hitting with three aces and three blocks. Ethan Hill had seven kills on .700 hitting and three blocks. Nathan Lietzke posted 31 assists and had 11 digs for the double-double while adding three blocks, three kills, and two aces. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Stanford secured a 25-19 win in the opening frame behind a .367 hitting performance led by four kills from Hill. Klein and Paulson each registered two kills apiece, but USC hit .172 in the loss.
  • The Cardinal went up, 2-0, with an identical 25-19 score in set two. Klein registered six of his kills in the second, but Stanford’s Hill and Lamp each had three kills to lead the Cardinal to a .435 hitting percentage.
