UPLAND, Ind. – The No. 19 Taylor volleyball team (14-3, 3-0) played host on Friday evening to the Grace Lancers, whom the Trojans defeated in three sets for their third-straight match sweep. Anna Frey, who transferred to Taylor this season from Grace, stole the show on offense, posting 15 kills with a hitting percentage of .393.
Frey’s 15 kills are the most that she has totaled in a three-match set for the Trojans this season, averaging a clean 5.0 kills-per-set in Taylor’s most-recent win inside Odle Arena.
Taylor is now 6-0 at home on the season, a mere continuation of its dominance at home throughout 2021 when the Trojans went 13-1 inside Odle.
While Frey fueled the Trojan attack, freshman libero, McKaylah Flagle, solidified the Taylor backline by matching a season-best 21 digs.
Often enough, however, the ball never made it past the TU front line, as Trojans combined for a total of 10 team blocks for the fourth time this season. Jaylynn Dunsmore led the way for Taylor in this way, sending back six total blocks, while Grace Ieremia and Kacy Bragg each added four apiece.
Bragg also managed to surpass the 30-assist mark yet again, totaling 33 in Taylor’s three-set sweep over Grace and now leading the Crossroads League with a season-average of 10.68 assists-per-set.
No. 19 Taylor (14-3, 3-0 CL) will make a quick return to action tomorrow afternoon, Saturday, September 17, when the Trojans host RV Mount Vernon Nazarene (14-2, 1-2 CL) for a 3:00 pm matchup.
