No. 2 USC Beach Volleyball Roasts Ducks for 5-0 Sweep

STANFORD, Calif. – The No. 2-ranked USC beach volleyball team (19-1) put a 5-0 sweep of Oregon (7-17) in the books to go undefeated on the first day of the Pac-12 North Invitational at Stanford Beach Volleyball Stadium on Friday, April 7. The Women of Troy pushed their active win streak to nine consecutive duals with the win over the Ducks. It was also the ninth straight win for the Trojans over Oregon.
 
USC’s twin senior duo of Audrey Nourse and Nicole Nourse posted the first USC point from the No. 2 position where the sisters defeated Bea Wetton and Ella Tyus, 21-18, 21-13, to improve to 16-3 on the season with their 78th-career victory.
 
At the No. 4 position, the Trojans’ Texan freshman pair of Mabyn Thomas and Gabby Walker notched a 2-0 USC lead on a 21-18, 21-18 win over Valerie Peterson and Batia Rotshtein. The freshmen teamed up for the first time earlier in the day and go to 2-0 overall.
 
The clincher came from the Trojans’ No. 5 pair of graduate Ashlyn Rasnick-Pope and freshman Bailey Showalter. The tandem defeated Presley McCaskill and Abby Plevin in straight sets, 21-9, 21-9, in their first match together.
 
USC’s fourth point came from Team Madison at pair three. Graduate Madison Shields and freshman Madison White collected their ninth straight win to improve to 14-5 on the season with a 21-10, 21-10 win over Natasha George and Ashley Shroeder.
 
At the top spot, juniors Megan Kraft and Delaynie Maple put together a 21-10, 21-11 win over Zoe Almanza and Chloe Brown for their third straight win as they improve to 13-1 on the season.
 
As a team, the Women of Troy improved to 14-2 all-time on the Farm as USC picked up its 136th all-time 5-0 sweep of an opponent. USC also goes to 112-0 all-time against unranked foes.
 
The Trojans are back in action for two more matches at the Pac-12 North Invitational on Saturday (April 8). USC takes on Arizona (18-4) in the first dual of the day at 8 a.m. PT. The Women of Troy and the Wildcats will be shown live on the Pac-12 Networks. USC concludes the invitational with a matchup against Utah (6-18) at the Sand Hill Courts set for noon PT.
