No. 25 Volleyball Falls to Mississippi State Sunday

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Four Tigers finished in double-figures offensively as the No. 25 ranked University of Missouri volleyball team (19-7, 10-4 SEC) dropped a four-set (25-19, 20-25, 22-25, 24-26) decision at Mississippi State (11-13, 5-10 SEC) Sunday afternoon at the Newell-Grissom Building.

Mychael Vernon paced the Mizzou offense with 15 kills to go with 14 digs and a trio of blocks.

Jordan Iliff chipped in a 14-kill, 12-dig double-double along with two aces and two solo blocks.

Colleen Finney added 12 kills on a .360 clip, just one kill shy of matching her career high. She also had two blocks and two digs.

Regan Haith rounded out the double-digit attackers, notching 10 kills (.526) with five blocks.

Marina Crownover dished out 46 assists with 13 digs while Sierra Dudley finished with 10 assists, six digs and two blocks.

Libero Maya Sands was one of five Tigers in double-digits for digs, compiling 21 and two assists. She has now surpassed 1,000 digs at Mizzou (1,421 in her career).

Kiaraliz Perez Catala grabbed a season-best 19 digs with a trio of assists.

Claire Morrissey tallied a career-best six kills on a .667 hitting percentage over two sets Sunday. She also had a block and a dig.

FIRST SET (25-19 Mizzou, Mizzou leads 1-0)

Missouri jumped out to an early 5-0 lead before extending the margin to 10-5.

A 3-0 Tiger run that featured kills from Iliff and Janet deMarrais extended the lead to 15-9 at the media stoppage.

Finney added a termination before a Mississippi State miscue made the score 18-11 and brought on a Bulldogs timeout.
