PITTSBURGH – No. 7 Pitt (26-3, 16-1 ACC) is one win away from securing its fourth ACC Championship in the last six seasons ahead of Saturday’s match against Boston College (19-12, 7-10 ACC). The Panthers will take on BC at 1 p.m. inside Fitzgerald Field House in the 2022 regular season finale. A win would draw Pitt even with Louisville after the Cardinals defeated Notre Dame on Wednesday to finish their ACC season at 17-1.

The Panthers pulled off an impressive comeback to defeat No. 13 Georgia Tech inside the Petersen Events Center on Wednesday. Valeria Vazquez Gomez, Emmy Klika and Rachel Fairbanks all set career-records in the victory as head coach Dan Fisher became the sixth coach in ACC history to achieve 150 conference wins (150-37).
 
Vazquez Gomez made a career-best 22 kills, including five in the fifth set, to lead the offense against Georgia Tech. Her offensive heroics were felt in all stages of the game as she made a career-best three service aces along with a pair of blocks to result in a team-high 26.5 points, the most points scored by a Panther this season and tied with Kayla Lund (10/9/22 vs. BC) for the most points recorded in a match since 2017 (Nika Markovic).
 
Vazquez Gomez made her presence felt all over the court, finishing with 14 digs for her sixth career double-double and fourth of the season. Courtney Buzzerio was her partner in crime on offense as the two Panthers combined for 42 kills on .343 hitting becoming the first Panther tandem in the Dan Fisher era to post multiple matches in which both score at least 20 kills.
 
The offense posted a season-best 71 kills, thanks to 39 assists from Rachel Fairbanks, the sophomore setter/right side made her mark in all aspects of play, making five kills, 39 assists, two aces, 12 digs and a career-best five blocks. She made back-to-back blocks, with Chiamaka Nwokolo, in the final two points against Georgia Tech to secure the victory. Fairbanks has now made a team-best 13 double-doubles this season.
 
Klika came off the bench, changing into the libero jersey after the first set to lead the back row throughout the comeback. She made a career-best 17 digs, including three in the final set. It was her fourth-career 10+…
