PITTSBURGH – No. 7 Pitt (25-3, 15-1 ACC) carries ACC title hopes into its penultimate regular season match against No. 13 Georgia Tech (19-6, 12-4 ACC) on Wednesday at 5 p.m. inside the Petersen Events Center. With a win, the Panthers would clinch a share of their fourth ACC Championship in the last six seasons with a win tomorrow and a win on Saturday against Boston College.
This will be Pitt’s 11th match inside the Petersen Events Center. Pitt is 7-3 all-time in the building, including a 3-0 record against ACC opponents. The first match at Petersen Events Center came back in 2018, when Pitt swept Georgia Tech.

LAST TIME OUT
The Panthers suffered their first loss of ACC play last weekend, falling in three sets to No. 4 Louisville on the road. The loss snapped an 18-match win streak, the fourth-longest in program history, and a program-record 15-match road winning streak.
PITT IN THE PETE
This will be Pitt Volleyball’s 11th match at the Petersen Events Center. The Panthers are 7-3 all-time at the venue and 3-1 in regular season matches. Last season, Pitt won both matches in the Pete, defeating UMBC and Penn State in the NCAA Tournament 1st and 2nd rounds.
The program’s first-ever match at the Pete came against Georgia Tech in 2018. The Panthers swept GT that day with Sabrina Starks making two kills and a block, while current director of operations Kamalani Akeo made 17 assists and two aces.
Starks has played in all but one of Pitt’s matches at the Pete, totaling 37 career blocks in those nine matches.Five Panthers are undefeated in matches they’ve played at the Pete – Vazquez Gomez, Fairbanks and Klika are each 2-0 with Flood coming in at 1-0 and Gray leading them all with a 3-0 record (one as a member of Penn State in 2019).
Pitt is 3-0 against ACC opponents in the Pete, defeating Georgia Tech (’18), Louisville (’19) and Florida State (’19).
The Panthers are out-hitting opponents .260 to .158 all-time at the Pete.
