COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s volleyball team (1-3) travels to Atlanta for the Georgia Tech Classic and a pair of top-10 matchups on the schedule.
- Ohio State was ranked eighth in this week’s AVCA poll for the second-consecutive week, with four other Big Ten teams also in the top-10.
- Junior opposite Emily Londot was named Big Ten Co-Player of the Week on Monday.
- Londot and senior libero Kylie Murr earned spots on the all-tournament team.
- Last weekend, 8 Ohio State earned its first win of the season in style, snapping No. 3 Louisville’s 24-match home win streak on Sunday in four sets (17-25, 25-15, 25-23, 25-17).This was the first win in program history against a top-three non-conference opponent.
- The Buckeyes had their best offensive showing of the season against the Cardinals as OSU hit .372 as a team, including .500 in the fourth set and .481 in the second set. This also marked the first match with more than one Buckeye recording 10 kills.
- 10 BYU enters the week with a 5-1 record and is slated to play No. 5 Georgia Tech on Thursday evening.
- The Cougars were perfect opening weekend, sweeping Rider and Washington State and earning a four-set win against Duke. BYU continued its strong start with a sweep against Utah State and a win against Cincinnati in four sets before dropping its first match of the season to No. 10 Pitt in four sets.
- BYU owns all nine former meetings between the two programs, though the teams have met just twice in the last 17 seasons.
- Most recently, the teams played at the BYU Nike Invitational in Provo, Utah on Aug. 26, 2017, where the Cougars won in four sets.
- 5 Georgia Tech enters the tournament at a perfect 5-0.
- The Yellow Jackets opened the season with a four-set win against Ole Miss and followed with their first ranked win against No. 17 Illinois. Georgia Tech did not slow down the second weekend, hosting Dayton, Arizona State and FIU. GT swept Dayton and FIU and beat ASU in four sets.
- Ohio State leads the all-time series 2-1 against Georgia Tech.
- The teams most recently met in the 2021 NCAA regional semifinals, where the Yellow Jackets advanced to the regional finals after three close sets (22-25, 24-26, 21-25).
