Cal Wins Fifth-Straight Match
MORAGA, Calif. – The No. 9 California beach volleyball team (23-6) earned its fifth-straight win Saturday afternoon sweeping Saint Mary’s (12-15) on the road 5-0. The Golden Bears have now won 11 of their last 12 contests.
All five of the Bears’ wins came in straight sets with senior Lexi McKeown and sophomore Ella Dreibholz finishing first with a 21-15, 21-6 victory on court four. They remain unbeaten on the season at 4-0 and have a career record of 27-7.
The court five pair of junior Ava Mann and sophomore Alex Young-Gomez was next off with a 21-14, 21-15 win in its first match of the season. The clincher came on court two as junior Maya Gessner and freshman Gia Fisher took their matchup 21-16, 21-14.
Seniors Ashley Delgado and Ainsley Radell picked up their 21st win of the season as a duo with a 22-20, 21-19 win on court two. That mark ranks fourth all time in a single season and their 26 career wins ranks third.
