Noah Casaquit Named UCLA Women’s Volleyball Assistant

LOS ANGELES – UCLA women’s volleyball head coach Alfee Reft has finalized his coaching staff with assistant coach Noah Casaquit.

Earlier this spring, the NCAA passed legislation that allows Division I women’s volleyball programs to increase their full-time assistant coaches from two to three. The rule goes into effect today, July 1. Casaquit was previously on staff as the director of operations and currently serves the UCLA beach volleyball program in that role. Casaquit joins associate head coach Jen Malcom and assistant coach Amir Lugo-Rodriguez on Reft’s first-year staff.

“From day one in Westwood, Noah has been instrumental in the movement and growth of our program,” Reft said. “His genuine passion to connect and make the environment and situation around him better has been felt in ripples. I am thrilled that he will be returning from his stint as Director of Volleyball Operations with UCLA’s beach volleyball program to be an assistant for our indoor team this fall.

“Noah brings a wealth of experience in working with ball control and defense and has a sharp eye for the details in that area. Most importantly, his love for the sport and the athletes he works with brings joy to an environment and makes everyone around him better.”

Casaquit arrives to Westwood after two years as the assistant coach at the University of San Francisco and his fifth total year of coaching NCAA women’s volleyball. Casaquit also spent two seasons as the top assistant at the Academy of Art in San Francisco (2019-2020) and one season as the volunteer assistant at the University of California, Berkeley (2018).

“I want to thank (UCLA’s Alice and Nahum Lainer Director of Athletics Martin Jarmond), Kenny Donaldson and Alfee for this awesome opportunity,” Casaquit said. “I am eager to witness and help execute the vision Alfee has laid out for us. His passion and expertise in volleyball is masterful. Learning what makes Alfee, Jen and Amir great people and volleyball coaches has already made me better. I hope to do the same for them. Being at UCLA for the last two quarters has also been motivating and exciting. I have come to learn that what makes UCLA special is the people that make up this community. The team is hungry. The support staff are rockstars. Great things are ahead.”
