PITTSBURGH – Sophomore right side hitter and ACC Player of the Year Olivia Babcock has been named an AVCA National Player of the Year Finalist, announced by the organization on Tuesday. Babcock is now one of four players contending for the award and would be the first Panther in program history to garner the accolade.
Babcock was named the 2024 ACC Player of the Year for the first time in her career after earning ACC Freshman of the Year honors last season. She is the second Panther in program history to receive the prestigious award and first to win it since Kayla Lund (2019, 2020).
Most recently, Babcock was named the AVCA East Coast Region Player of the Year and an AVCA East Coast Region Team member. She leads the Pitt offense and averages 5.85 points per set, 4.59 kills per set, 1.85 digs per set and 0.65 aces per set. Babcock has won two AVCA National Player of the Week and three ACC Offensive Player of the Week awards this season. She also saw her name on the All-ACC First Team for the second straight season.
